1. It’s raining

My sister visited last week and she brought not only incredible encouragement (she’s hardcore healthy) but also LUSH massage bars and a bath bomb.  With a trip planned we headed to the closest LUSH store for some gift purchasing and I found myself newly in love.

“It’s Raining Men” has hooked me!! I’m obsessed. I got a sample and I can’t stop just smelling the jar, its so…beautiful. I never really care about smelly cosmetics but this one has me.

    http://www.lushusa.com/It%27s-Raining-Men/9999903406,en_US,pd.html?start=5&cgid=shower-gels

My sister recommended using it as a workout bribe. I get to use my shower gel after I’ve done my workout. At first I was just using it all the time but after my run yesterday I decided I’m going to do that. Might as well combine perceived shallowness (desire to be thinner) with a taste of materialism!! So I’m coming up with a few goal “gifts.”

Some of my current goals are 1. getting to pre-baby #2 weight (240lbs). 2. Getting into a size 14 again 3. getting into pre-baby #1 weight (>220) 4. Ultimate super goal is getting below 200.

As of right now if goal 1 is accomplished I will purchase the full size jar of “It’s Raining Men” from Lush. At 27.95 a pop its not a regular purchase for bath soap.

Still deciding on my other weight loss goal gifts. Will have a few more by the end of this week.

Do you have any goal related “gifts to self?”

  3. Happiness

A part of this blog is “weight loss” but, in addition and more importantly, is the acceptance of self and coming to a place of peace with myself and the world.

I saw this posted on my facebook a few times this week so I am going to share it with you. I feel as though a lot of these bullet points are absolutely on point:

  4. Last night I did my first real run since having baby #2. I wasn’t counting on anything. Thanks to the assistance of girl talk I went two miles! I feel soo good.

Today, I fit into my pre- baby 2 jeans. Scale hasn’t moved in a while but the jeans!!

  5. I have an app called “Nike training” that gives you different calisthenic work out for different your diff goals. I tried it today and my weak, post partum body made it through a likely easy workout (tough for me). But I did it. Let’s go, self!

Also, baby is 5 weeks tomorrow. Come 6 weeks “post partum” is no longer an excuse! My runs must start back up!

They all weigh 150lbs

There is no ‘right’ body type. Weight looks different on different people, and it is ALL OKAY. Don’t compare yourself to other people’s bodies, learn to love the body you’re in NOW and what it can do NOW.

This reminds me of the British show I caught online called something like “look good naked ” and was all about getting ladies to do an undies fashion show after finding love for their bodies.

  7. So I’ve agreed to go to my high school reunion mid-June. I never wanted to be working off baby weight for this event but I can’t reasonably justify refusing to hang out with some friends for such a shallow reason.
Now I do feel pressure! I want to wear something I already own and I can likely do a dress better than a pair of pants. To lose 2 lbs a week would make it about 12 lbs loss. Ugh! I guess i gotta turn on the juice

  8. I’m at that stage where the scale isn’t moving but I am. And it’s like “wtf why ami working so hard for no progress?” and then I just have to say “no, I don’t need you to pick up anything for me” even though I was looking at photos of cookies on pinterest and hope that these practices in self control will eventually reap great rewards.

  10. A few updates on my current postpartum life:

    -I’m officially 3.5 weeks postpartum.

-I’m starting a few low key strength training activities because I’m anxious to bring my body back into working order. I walk on a regular basis with the 7lb baby strapped to my front and 20something lb toddler in the stroller. We walk about 2 miles right now and I’m so exhausted by the end.

-It’s incredibly difficult to lose weight/gain muscle/train while postpartum. Granted I am not supposed to “work out” until 6 weeks postpartum but I’m so ready. I want to go for a run and believe I will next week. I’ve begun looking at photos of boudoir shoots as a form of self inflicted punishment.

-Before I got pregnant with my first child I was planning on taking some boudoir shots for my first wedding anniversary. Then I discovered I was pregnant and put it on hold.  Now I’m getting eager again to take these photos and why?! Why am I doing that to myself?!

-I think I’ve found my avocado love again. For a while I was on an avocado sabbatical, save for guacamole. I made some guac last night and was happily licking my hands.

-Avocado is going to be a staple, especially guac. Since I’m nursing, I’m constantly starving. A nice serving of homemade guac will be a great way to solve that “problem” and keep up on the protein/fats/veggies.

-Joined a group on facebook to encourage weight loss. I’m happy to have the healthy competition and support!
